Origami space ships

So, I'm not dead. Not at all. My life just happens offline mostly.

Very long story short (please skip to the next paragraph if you're not interested):
  • I work a lot, even a bit more after a promotion in january.
  • My son (2.75yrs old) is probably the coolest guy on earth but he is VERY time consuming.
  • I'm trying to live healthier, this is also quite time consuming (buying healthy things, produce healthy meals, go outside, all this funny stuff).
  • I try to read more... much more, actually. Mostly nothing very sophisticated; I read some cool horror and bizarro-books. Miéville is next on my list.
  • I try to stay away from time consuming, non-effective RPG-consumation. You know, bulge-buying-book-flipping. I read rpg-stuff, but I often hesitate before I buy something, then try to read from cover to cover.
So, what I've done nearly on a daily basis: I've lurked at G+. I read a lot threads and comments and commented sometimes, mostly OSR and Into the Odd-Stuff. Recently, I (re)discovered the blog of +evandro novelhttps://solounmondodicarta.wordpress.com/. I had a short chat with him about his 2.5d paper solo wargaming and told him about an idea that's on my mind for some years:
Wargaming with Origami. I'm pretty sure I'm not the first one to think of this, but I mostly find some threads about papercraft-models, which there is a plethora of.

Thats not what I mean. I'm thinking of this:

This is a pretty cool model, huh? I'll tell you what, there are more: Just google Origami Jet. So, we have various fighter models; of course we can discriminate them via paper color, even more variations with two-colored paper. Or some ink - think about the possibilities! Basing should be no big problem, we could need some wire or stick to "elevate" the jets from the bases. Depending on the battlefield we need no bases at all.

Rules? +evandro novel uses One Page Rules for his skirmishes - and, guess what? With Orion's Gate they already have a space-tabletop!

Ok, what to do?
  1. Read the rules.
  2. Fold up some models.
  3. ???
  4. Fun.
  5. Profit!
Perhaps this is a project scale I can cope with...

  1. Keeping gaming "projects" simple, with immediate return in fun certainly works for me!

I am curious to see what can be done for basing the ships. But I also think that one can start playing without bases :)
